Following India’s impressive win over New Zealand, cricket enthusiasts are highly anticipating the upcoming final of the ICC World Cup 2023. This decisive match will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, where India will face Australia, who secured their spot by triumphing over South Africa in Kolkata.
As the ICC World Cup final in Ahmedabad approaches, cricket fans preparing to support India are facing skyrocketing hotel rates and travel costs to the city. Hotel rooms, even basic ones, are now priced at around ₹10,000 per night. Staying in a four or five-star hotel could cost as much as ₹1 lakh per night, according to Moneycontrol.
This surge in accommodation prices occurred soon after the final match announcement. Flight ticket prices to Ahmedabad have also spiked, exceeding 100 times their usual rates around the World Cup final dates.
The challenge of finding affordable accommodation started even before India confirmed its spot in the final. Hotel rates on platforms like Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, and Agoda saw a dramatic rise. In October, the price for a night’s stay escalated from ₹24,000 to a staggering ₹2,15,000, highlighting the intense demand.
The increase in hotel and flight prices is not unprecedented. Similar trends were observed during the India-Pakistan match in Ahmedabad, with significant hikes in hotel and ticket prices.
