Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul to Tie the Knot Within the Next 3 Months?

Cricketer-celebrity liaisons are great—take a look at Virat and Anushka; a match made in heaven, perhaps? As per the rumour mill, there’s another such ‘partnership’ that is prepping to take the plunge. Indian Cricket Vice Captain KL Rahul, and actor Athiya Shetty, are all set to take their relationship to the next level. The two, who have been dating for over three years now, have reportedly immersed themselves in the nitty-gritty of wedding planning. 

A source close to Athiya informed India Today that the actor and cricketer are to wed within the next 3 months—and preparations are in full swing. “Rahul’s parents were recently in Mumbai to meet Athiya’s family. The couple, along with their families, visited the new house that they’ll be moving into soon. The wedding is expected to take place within the next three months in Mumbai. It will be a grand celebration, and every detail of the wedding is being overseen by the bride herself,” the insider revealed.

When rumours about their December wedding were rife, daddy Suniel Shetty told ETimes, “She is my daughter. She will get married sometime. I would want my son to also get married—the sooner the better. It’s their choice. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I love the boy. And it is for them to decide what they want to do because times have changed. My blessings are always with them.”

KL and Athiya began dating in 2019, and made their relationship Instagram-official with a birthday appreciation post for the cricketer, back in 2020. The duo met through a mutual friend and instantly hit it off. 

Ever since, the two have accompanied one another to event appearances, and are the quintessential too-cute-to-be-true couple on social media. The 30-year-old—who recently suffered a groin injury and was ruled out of India’s England tour and the T20 series against South Africa—has been seeking treatment in Germany. Athiya jetted off to the European country for her bae’s treatment as well.
