There are only a handful of shows you can watch over and over and over again without getting utterly bored of them. The Office is at the very top of that list. Michael’s obscene antics, Jim’s pranks, Dwight’s standoffish behaviour and everything else about the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin just never seems to get old. Even after numerous binge-watches, every that’s-what-he-said joke, every prank and every random conversation is just as funny as it was the first time we heard it (some of them are so bad, they’re good).
If you agree and have been grinning and nodding along, chances are that there has come a time when you wish you worked at Dunder Mifflin under Michael Scott’s reign. Well, thanks to Lego, here’s your chance to win your own Dundie! You’ll just have to build it first.
On 16th July, Lego announced a new set based on the sitcom The Office. This set, comprised of 1,164 pieces, is in the form of the Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton Branch and became a reality after it got 10,000 votes through Lego’s Ideas Programme. The original idea was submitted by Jaijai Lewis, a New York-based marketing professional. Ahead of its release on the USA and Canada Lego websites on 1st October 2022, it will be available for pre-order.
While the set doesn’t include the Annex or the warehouse portions, it features 15 miniatures that represent the cult-favourite characters—Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert, Michael Scott, Pam Beesly, Ryan Howard, Angela Martin, Oscar Martinez, Kevin Malone, Stanley Hudson, Kelly Kapoor, Phyllis Vance, Meredith Palmer, Creed Bratton, Toby Flenderson, and Darryl Philbin. If you’re already jumping up and down internally, hold your horses. There’s more. 12 of the 15 mini figures will come with two facial expressions that you can switch between by turning their heads.
What makes this set the Holy Grail for all The Office lovers—the incredible detailing gone into it! From Dwight’s stapler in a blob of jelly (one of Jim’s best pranks!) and Stanley’s pretzel, to Kevin’s spilt chilli, Michael’s “World’s Best Boss” mug and even Pam’s painting on the wall. The Easter eggs that have been incorporated in this set are astounding. It even has a small fax machine with the message Jim sent Dwight as ‘Future Dwight’.
As amazed as we are at the callbacks on this set, we do wish they had included Erin and Andy. Both of whom were integral characters of the show in its later seasons. But hey, we’ll take what we can get!
