Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan turned heads at the Ambani family’s grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebration on September 7, 2024, wearing a stunning multi-hued brocade silk lehenga designed by Indian fashion maestro Mayyur Girotra. Her elegant attire not only showcased her fashion-forward style but also promoted sustainability and a deep respect for Indian textile heritage.
The lehenga, a standout creation, was handcrafted from vintage brocade sarees preserved by the designer for over 50 years. On Instagram, the design house shared, “This lehenga, woven from old recycled brocade sarees dating back 50-60 years, embodies Mayyur Girotra’s passion for preserving textile traditions. Over the years, he has curated a unique collection of rare sarees, fabrics, and pure zari embroidery patchworks, transforming them into timeless masterpieces for his clients. For this ensemble, multi-coloured vintage sarees were intricately combined to create a vibrant lehenga that celebrates the rich history of Indian textiles.”
