Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar share one of the most precious relationships. She considers him to be a father figure, a best friend and a mentor all rolled up in one. And he, on the other hand, treats her like one of his children. Their bond is truly heart-warming. So, it stands to reason that when Alia told Karan about her pregnancy, his reaction was a just wave of emotions. No one does dramatic better than Karan Johar and we are here for it!
In a recent interview with ETimes about Koffee with Karan’s upcoming season, Karan let us in on the emotional reaction he had when Alia came to his office to give him the good news. He said it felt like his baby was going to have a baby. BRB, wiping tears.
Karan said, “I cried. She came to my office. I remember I was having a bad hair day and I was sitting in a hoodie with a cap. And she told me this. And my first emotion was, that tears just came out and Alia came and gave me a hug. I remember saying, ‘I can’t believe you are having a baby’. It feels like your baby is having a baby. It was a very emotional moment for me, and it still is!”

He went on to talk about how the Gangubaai actress was his ‘first burst of parenting’. Karan gave Alia her first break with Student of the Year. She was 17 at the time. Since then, she has grown into her own as an actor and their bond has just gotten stronger. Karan says, “I’ve seen her from a girl transforming into an outstanding artiste, into this wonderful self-assured woman. And I feel so much pride. She was my first burst of being a parent. My first burst of parenting was when she walked into my office when she was 17. She’s 29 today and these last 12 years have been magical for both of us. I share such a strong bond with her. I can’t wait to hold her baby in my arms. It will be a very emotional moment, as close to when I held my own children.”
