Deepika Padukone seems to be reveling in her recent success. The actress made a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Jawan” and received high praise for her short yet impactful role, as well as her on-screen chemistry with SRK. Known for her love of sarees and her penchant for experimenting with them, Deepika was last spotted in a white Manish Malhotra sheer saree adorned with frills. This outfit was paired with a sleeveless, high-collar, backless blouse embellished with mirror work, which she wore at the designer’s Bridal Couture show in July 2023. Now, a similar look from her “Jawan” promotions has surfaced online, courtesy of Deepika’s stylist, Shaleena Nathani.
In this ensemble, Deepika looks stunning in a white Sabyasachi saree from the brand’s April 2023 collection. While there are some resemblances to the Manish Malhotra look, what sets this outfit apart is its simple glamour. The saree’s body is white, but it features a black border with sequins stitched onto it. The styling of this particular monochrome collection from Sabyasachi draws inspiration from the Victorian era. The blouse is high-necked with an added detail of a pussybow, and it is accompanied by a cape-like embroidered jacket, with the classic Bengal tiger belt cinching the waist. However, Deepika opts for a more modern blouse in her look and omits the jacket and belt.
The high-neck halter-style blouse complements Deepika’s appearance, elongating her neck, while the backless design adds a touch of allure to the saree. The sharp draping by Dolly Shah accentuates Deepika’s frame and elevates the overall look as the pallu cascades gracefully over her shoulders. For her makeup, artist Anil Chinappa gives her a radiant base with highlighter on her cheeks and subtle contouring to define her jawline. He takes a slightly dramatic approach with her eyes, heavily lining them with kohl and creating a winged liner look. The sleek pulled-back bun by Yianni Tsapatori completes the ensemble. Deepika accessorizes with square emerald earrings set with diamonds, adding a hint of color to the monochrome look and drawing attention to the high-necked blouse.
The pairing of Deepika Padukone and Sabyasachi has consistently delivered exceptional fashion moments, including her debut as a jury member at the 22nd Cannes Film Festival in a stunning gold and black saree. Sabyasachi recently made waves with his costume designs for Zoya Akhtar’s show, “Made in Heaven,” leaving the audience in awe and eager for more. Currently, Sabyasachi is collaborating with Disney on the Disney Create 100 project, creating Indian artworks featuring the beloved cartoon character Mickey Mouse in an Indian setting.
