“Director Anurag Basu Clears the Air on Tara Sutaria’s Role in Aashiqui 3”
Kartik Aaryan’s much-anticipated project, “Aashiqui 3,” has been a hot topic of discussion in Bollywood. The film, officially announced in 2023, will be directed by Anurag Basu. Recently, rumors circulated that Tara Sutaria had been cast as the female lead when she was spotted with Kartik in the city. However, Anurag Basu has clarified that there is no truth to these speculations.
Tara Sutaria’s Role
As of now, the female lead for “Aashiqui 3” has not been finalized. Anurag Basu, when contacted by Hindustan Times, stated, “No, the female lead of the film has not been finalized yet. Everything out there is speculation.” When specifically asked about Tara, the director added, “No. No one has been finalized.”

Kartik had previously shared the announcement video for “Aashiqui 3” on his Instagram handle. On September 5, 2022, he captioned the post, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum Aashiqui 3 This one is going to be Heart-wrenching!! My First with Basu Da.”

Tara’s Upcoming Project
Meanwhile, Tara is gearing up for her OTT debut in Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s “Apurva,” set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on November 15, 2023. The character posters for this OTT film have already been released, and Tara will share the screen with Abhishek Banerjee and Rajpal Yadav.
Kartik’s Work
Kartik, on the other hand, is working on “Chandu Champion,” his first collaboration with filmmaker Kabir Khan. He has undergone a transformation for his role in the film, which is slated for release in June 2024. Additionally, he has “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” in the pipeline, although there is no recent update on the status of the horror-comedy. Kartik played a pivotal role in the second installment of “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” directed by Anees Bazmee.
