Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, portraying the love interest of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s transgender character, Harika, in the crime drama “Haddi,” recently discussed his role in the film, emphasizing the film’s primary message of love transcending gender boundaries.
Directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma and featuring Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, and Ayyub in leading roles, “Haddi” explores the mental and emotional challenges actors face while portraying such characters.
Ayyub expressed, “I don’t believe there’s any significant toll on an actor. Some aspects of the character stay with you. It’s a give-and-take process. It’s not an intense character but a gentle one. We had to convey that tenderness in their relationship.” He further elaborated, “Romance shouldn’t be labeled as something special; it’s just love. Anyone can love anyone, regardless of their gender or preferences. Love is pure. That was the fundamental idea we aimed to convey, and we worked towards that.”
“Harika” is produced by Zee Studios in collaboration with Anandita Studios. The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a dual role, one of which is a transgender character. It also includes pivotal performances by Ila Arun, Saurabh Sachdeva, Rajesh Kumar, and Ivanka Das. “Haddi” is available for streaming on Zee5.
Previously, Zeeshan Ayyub appeared in “Scoop,” where he portrayed the character of Imran Siddiqui. The series stars Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
