Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his open and supportive relationships with his ex-wives, Kalki Koechlin and Aarti Bajaj, recently shed light on the key to their enduring friendship during a candid interview.
Despite the dissolution of his marriages with Kalki and Aarti, Anurag underscored the importance of open and honest communication as the bedrock of their continued positive relationship.
In an interview with Zoom, Anurag shared insights into their mature approach to addressing past mistakes and maintaining an “honest” dialogue about them. He articulated, “During our youth, we made our fair share of mistakes. But we’ve grown mature enough to acknowledge and confront those mistakes. Sometimes, there are still some lingering issues. We are friends; Aarti even continues to edit my work, and she can get angry at any point.”
He went on to emphasize, “However, we prioritize our friendship above all. The same principle holds true with Kalki. There comes a point in our lives when we shed our immaturity and gain clarity. As long as we converse honestly with each other, bitterness doesn’t find a place to linger. Bitterness only festers between couples who lack the courage to engage in honest conversation.”
During a recent interview, Kalki also shared her perspective on her relationship with Anurag. She expressed a deep sense of comfort and tranquility in her connection with him, underscoring the shared experiences and challenges they have navigated both together and separately. She articulated, “I’m at peace with Anurag now. We’ve weathered storms together and separately. We’ve arrived at a place of serenity in our relationship.”
Anurag Kashyap’s previous marriages include one with film editor Aarti Bajaj, with whom he shares a daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, notable for her digital influence. Subsequently, he tied the knot with actress Kalki Koechlin, but their marriage concluded in divorce in 2015.
Anurag’s continued warmth and cordiality with both of his ex-wives have garnered public admiration, with the filmmaker even sharing a photograph alongside Aarti and Kalki in August 2022, affectionately referring to them as his “two pillars.”
