You may not be headed to a BTS concert anytime soon, but if the stars align, you might just be able to sleep in the same bed as them, strum the same guitar, use the same exercise equipment and eat at the same dining table. Airbnb is inviting K-pop fans from all over the world to recreate their favourite boy band’s memories via a chance to live, love, laze and laugh in the palatial countryside property in PyeongChang, just like the Bangtan Boys did in season 2 of BTS In The Soop, a South Korean reality series featuring members of the band partaking in activities that are “somewhere in between everyday life and leisure.”
With A.R.M.Y forever clamouring for more content from the group, the wildly popular Korean band had to find creative ways to engage with fans during the pandemic, which led them to participate in season 1 of BTS In The Soop (Korean for forest), where the musicians took seven days out from their busy schedules to revive their spirits and pursue individual hobbies. It was filmed at a private lakeside property known as Lake 192, a popular Airbnb site used for hosting corporate workshops, family events and small weddings which has also won the Korean Architecture Award. Season 2 of BTS In The Soop was veritably grander and saw the boys treated to some downtime in a lavish mansion which took a whole year to build. The place comes equipped with a gym, a basketball and tennis court, a pool and more, and the teaser specifically stressed that the structure had been built for “BTS and BTS only”.
So imagine our surprise when Airbnb announced that it would grant two lucky guests the once-in-a-lifetime experience to literally live like the stars at the exclusive getaway and immerse themselves in the natural rhythms of PyeongChang for just 7$ in honour of the seven members. The two winners can lose themselves in literature like RM, snap polaroid selfies like J-hope, find creative inspiration and let it all out on a blank canvas like V or get in a quick session of weight training à la Jimin. The expansive estate from season 2 of BTS in the Soop has unbelievable surprises in store for the guests: access to furniture and amenities that appeared on the show; a karaoke machine and a state-of-the-art sound system stocked with all of BTS’ hit tracks and albums; specially catered dishes like the charcoal grilled Korean beef (which the band referred to as “the best taste in the universe” on the show); and tteokbokki, also known as Jimin’s beloved simmered rice cakes.
